Alexander N. Crawford took part in The Battles of Marne and Aisne, where they endured heavy fighting on the Aisne heights and Chivy. The 1st & 2nd Battalions were at Loos and many men were killed in the enemy artillery barrage while preparing to assault Hill 70.
One of the finest Scots family assemblies imaginable. The medals and documentation shown here to the Crawford brothers comprises a rare and historically important social statement which covers just about all aspects of The Great War. With one brother decorated, another brother killed in action and the third brother captured and then escaped, it is hard to imagine the emotions stirred in this family.
