Woodley was a direct entrant recruit into the RFC on 2nd October 1913. As 2AM went to 5 Squadron and arrived in France 14th August 1914. Promoted 1AM ( Fitter Engines) 1 October 1915 and retained that rank and trade in April 1918 RAF Muster Roll .
