[BIOGRAPHY] 1883-
Edward O’ CONNOR was born in Leeds, Yorkshire in 1883 and joined the Army at Leeds on 1st February 1900 at age 17. He had previously worked as a Labourer. He was a small lad of just 106lbs & 5ft 5” He was of Church of England persuasion.

He served for 5 years with service in Malta for which he was awarded his Mediterranean Medal. He is shown working as a bookmaker’s clerk in 1911. He served in WW1 as an Armourer Sergt in the AOC with a discharged on 10th March 1919. He is then seen claiming a disablement pension on 13th October 1919 while suffering with Pulmonary Tuberculosis. He was resident at 5 Milford Place, Kirkstall Road, Leeds, with a 60% disability rate still remaining in 1920. He apparently made a recovery by 1926. Edward was still working during WW2 as a Weaving Loom Sweeper in Walton Le Dale.
