(Officially Impressed) [BIOGRAPHY] 1844-James Anton was born in 1844 at Grange of Errol, Perth, Scotland, and enlisted into the British Army on 25th July 1860 at age 16 and previously worked as a ploughman. He was 5ft 7” tall with a fresh complexion, hazel eyes & brown hair. He served for 21 years & 258 days with a discharge in Portsmouth on 11th April 1882 at age 40.He is shown on the 1901 census as being a Wine Merchant ...He had married wife Margaret in about 1880 & had two children who are shown on the census as James 24 & Betsy 20.
IF YOU COLLECT “CHOICE” & MEDICALLY INTERESTING VICTORIAN MEDALS.....THIS PAIR IS FOR YOU Afghan medals of this period are seldom seen in Such Pristine Condition due to contact with the star points, so it’s very clear that James never wore his medals, probably having sold them at an early date. Also entitled to an Abyssinia Medal.
