This is a totally exceptional group which comes with a fabulous set of three very rare and original parchment documents. (Listed below).
This type of documentary originality is almost impossible to locate these days and I’ve personally never seen anything like these for their originality and interest.
With such early Victorian groups the vast vast majority of these superb original old documents are invariably long gone as these items just don’t survive intact, in this case for 162 years with the medals !

[BIOGRAPHY] 1821/22 -
George Moore was born in Norwich in Norfolk in 1821/1822 and was a Labourer prior to his enlistment at Chatham, Kent on 21st August 1839 at the age of 18. He served in the army for 21 years & 300 days, of which 9 years & 10 months were served in India. He had four good conduct stripes and while serving with 32nd Foot he acted as “Officer’s servant” to Lieutenant Henry S. Stabb, the regiment’s adjutant.
Upon discharge on 10th June, George is shown as planning to live in Canterbury.

GWALIOR STAR (Punniar) 1843.
With a unique, privately manufactured silver “Battle Dated” top ribbon suspension bar: 29th Decr.1843. (Battle of Punniar) and an associated silver encasement & conversion from the original “reverse clip” design.
The Central date device lettering details somewhat worn via polishing by the proud recipient.
Reverse officially engraved in the normal “running script” style,
“Private George Moore, H.M. 3rd Reg”
Overall VF. A unique and interesting medal.

Original parchment “Certificate of Discharge” from 32nd Regt, with medal confirmation and service summary which also records his previous two units. Superbly hand written in period italic script.
Discharge basis was: “Free” with pension.
Dated: 18th June 1861.
Original parchment “Her Majesty’s Royal Hospital at Chelsea”,
(Out Pensioner) A pension confirmation document, which confirms his
payment as being at 1/- (one shilling) per day and the rules relating to the payment of the pension.
With his description as being:
5ft 6” tall, Sandy hair, Grey eyes, age 39. ...with 21 years & 10 months service.
Dated 19th June 1861.
Original paper A character reference letter from his officer, Lt Henry S.Stabb, Adjutant, 32nd Light Infantry. (Later an important officer)

Full Service History A highly detailed three sheet record of all his service dates, places of service and his unit changes which provide a really interesting record of his geographical disposition and locations throughout his service.
[SUMMARY]
When we saw this group we could hardly believe the great rarity and originality of the three hand written supporting documents. These are a truly unique and unrepeatable treasure trove of spotlessly accurate historical details. And ...to also have a full set of his surviving archive discharge records.....and ....a practically “day by day” full record of this man’s service is a truly exceptional situation.
This is a “Must Have” assembly for the collector of exceptionally original and well documented early medals.
A truly “one off” and “once in a lifetime” assembly.
