With Original Royal Mint Case
[SUMMARY]
This “spare” & “unattributed” 1944 Distinguished Flying Cross was awarded to an unknown officer who was almost certainly an Aircrew Europe bomber command pilot or crew member.
The medals have obviously been separated from their papers and log book, so the group is now anonymous. The DFC is in EF condition and has had only very minimal use by the recipient and is still in its original case of issue where it was placed in 1944.
It is actually becoming ever more difficult to source “spare” and unattributed DFC’s of any date and as such this is an item of great desirability with which to perhaps replace a lost & classic family DFC group.
Still housed in its original Royal Mint crested, leather, white silk and cream velvet case, this is a lovely example which is looking for a wonderful new home.
As a tribute to the sadly unknown officer who won this excellent award we have assembled with it a representative set of campaign medals to commemorate his possible service in the cause of freedom.
The vast vast majority of the 20,000 DFC’s awarded were for the bomber command campaign of 1944 & 1945, so although this isn’t a rare date, it’s still an attractive proposition as a spare, replacement or a display item.

The other four medals which of course include an original and “EF/ Mint” Aircrew Europe Star with France & Germany Clasp, are all in original EF+ condition on original ribbons and together with the DFC they make a wonderful display.
