Pte Tommy Nicholson won his Military Medal on 26th September 1916 at The Battle of Thiepval Ridge when he took part in the same trench assault action in which his fellow 12th Middlesex soldiers, Cpl Fred Edwards V.C.and Sergeant Robert Ryder V.C. won their Victoria Crosses for clearing out the enemy trench during close quarters & hand to hand fighting.

[BIOGRAPHY] 1887-1954.
Thomas Holme Nicholson was born in Hornsey, Middlesex on 23rd October 1887, to Thomas (32) & Julie Nicholson, nee Bleach (31). He was baptised on 19th November. He married Ethel Lilian Turner (1886-1956) on 14th August 1915 in Edmonton, Middlesex. The marriage produced one son. Dennis T.H. Nicholson (1921-2009). Tommy spent some time in Canada during the 1930’s. He also resided in Walls, Orkney, Scotland and died 3rd December 1954 at Barnet Road, Arkley, Hertfordshire, aged 67.
