An Excessively Scarce ARCTIC MEDAL 1857 in practically "Mint State" A Magnificent Example of this much sought after type. Prooflike surfaces and a totally intact, original & undamaged suspension.
An Excessively Scarce ARCTIC MEDAL 1857 in practically "Mint State" This is a totally magnificent example of this much sought after type with superb prooflike surfaces and a totally intact, original & undamaged suspension. We estimate that at least 75% of the examples of this medal show up with repaired suspension or swivel, (usually poorly executed with lead solder) and most of the remainder are well worn. This suspension arrangement is without doubt THE most intricate, delicate and decorative of all British campaign medal designs. This medal seldom shows up at all & certainly not in this level of preservation. I think I've had about 15 in forty years ! This is THE BEST !
