A very emotive group to a crew member who served in HMS LONDON when the ship attempted to rescue HMS AMETHYST during the Yangtse incident.

HMS LONDON
The Naval General Service Medal with clasp 'YANGTSE 1949' is perhaps the most sought after medal in the post WW2 naval series. Seldom seen at auction and then heavily contested.
With medals to the crew of HMS AMETHYST now bringing well over £3500 when they come up for sale we feel that this NGS medal and trio to HMS LONDON is a bargain .
This group went through DNW Auctions in June 2002 ( Lot 1530 ) and realised £600 (hammer) plus commission. Twelve years later in a market where most medal prices have about quadrupled we are asking just £1950.

Includes the recipients Silver Crested HMS LONDON tie pin and several sheets of research including a copy of the Crew Casualty lists.
Mounted as worn by the proud recipient. Some contact marks on IGS obverse, overall GVF & RARE
