An Early & Rare DISTINGUISHED FLYING MEDAL (1941) Aircrew Europe Star,1939-45 Star, Defence Medal. War Medal, QEII L.S.G.C. & Bar. Group of six:To 581158. Sgt . F.H. PARKS R.A.F. (58 Squadron) WHITELY BOMBERS. (Linton -on-Ouse ) Frank Harold Parks was born in Eastbourne in 1921 and prior to enlistment he had been training as an electrician. He joined the RAF in 1937....and flew as NAVIGATOR / BOMB AIMER on the very early Whitely Bombers at the start of WW2(RECOMMENDATION FOR DFM )Sgt PARKES has completed 16 operational flights ( we have just 11 listed) including attacks on Berlin , Leuna, the Channel Ports and other targets in enemy country. In spite of being delayed in his training through illness, Sgt Parks quickly became a reliable and courageous Navigator and Bomb Aimer. His coolness and gallantry in the face of enemy opposition has been outstanding.Comes complete with a large folder of research and operational flying log copies. AN EXCELLENT & RARE EARLY AWARD WITH 'SUPER LONG' SERVICE DENOTED BY A SECOND AWARD CLASP TO HIS QEII LONG SERVICE MEDAL.
