AN EXTRAORDINARY, "MINT" & VERY EARLY "B" (Bare Type) R.A.F. Flying Helmet (22c/65) circa 1936, paired with an EXCEPTIONAL PAIR of "MINT" MkII GOGGLES.
This early helmet & goggles assembly is practically 'mint' and is a true 'dream set' of the very finest museum quality.
[EARLY "B" TYPE (Bare) HELMET c,1936]
Having been produced pre-war in the mid-1930's and in relatively small numbers, the early 'B' Type (Bare) 22c/65 non-wired helmets in this level of preservation are virtually unknown.
We feel that this fresh 'mint' example is probably the very best you'll ever see. Many were converted to take Gosport Tubes and you do see the odd one which was converted up to 22c/66 standard by the fitting of zip ear pieces, inner doughnuts & electrics......but this example is complete with its correct embossed AM stores reference stamping, and it's inner label, and is 100% untouched, totally stores fresh, unworn & stunning.
[THE MK2 GOGGLES]
The MkII pattern goggles (circa 1930) match the helmet and are in seriously superlative condition and have probably never been on a face! It is however totally impossible to tell the civilian issues from the military because so very few were AM stores marked in the early 1930's. These however perfectly compliment the helmet in every way with both types being just as rare in this condition. (MkII goggles, often Amber tinted) were also widely worn by pilots in the Battle of Britain as a more comfortable and efficient alternative to the clumsy and heavy MkIVb's)
If you only collect the VERY BEST... This is for you !
