[BIOGRAPHY]William John Frederick Gomer was a Church of England lad born in Portsea, Portsmouth, Hampshire in 1872. Previously a labourer he initially enlisted into 3rd Bn Hampshire Regt on 8th May 1890 at Winchester. Served almost six years in India ( no medal ) and later in South Africa during the Boer War. His family home was at 12 St Helens Avenue, Cottage Grove, Southsea, Hants. He was discharged on 21st May 1902. Complete with colour copy service papers.
