[BIOGRAPHY]
Percy Payne was born in Blandford Forum, Dorset in 1880 and on 12th February 1901 he joined up at Westminster police court in London aged 21. He had previously worked as an electrical engineer before joining the army. He spent just under a year in South Africa.
He was discharged as unfit for further service a year later at Shorncliffe on 24th January 1902. He died on 22nd October 1944 in York.
With a personal photograph & a group study of men of the 2nd Rough Riders (including Percy Payne) taken in the field in South Africa.
With a large file of attestation, discharge and several other census papers etc.
An EF medal, uncleaned with original time developed colours.
There were just 150 medals issued to all ranks in the 84th / 22nd Imp Yeo.
