To: Lt, later Lt Col, WILLIAM GIBSON ALLEN BISHOP. N.Z.E.F. (M.I.D.)
Born 18th April 1893 at BALCLUTHA and training as a mining engineer W.G.A. Bishop was living at 45 Brown Street, Dunedin NZ where his father appears to have been a major executive of The National Bank of New Zealand. Bishop was originally a member of the Otago Infantry Regiment, and during The Great War he served in Egypt, Gallipoli and France and was later a member of the NZ staff corps serving as Lt Colonel.
