A very rare and highly unusual two clasp medal to an
Original Defender at The Siege of Ladysmith.
The medal is "GEM MINT STATE" and on its original long length of ribbon.
Clear Ghost Dates on the reverse and the very lowest service number Ive ever seen on a QSA of "3" !!!   

The Medal Roll show Thompson as "DIED" but does not elaborate on the cause of his departure.
