London Gazette (Supp) Page 3878. 28th March 1918
For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Volunteering to try and clear up a doubtful situation, together with an N.C.O. he went forward, discovering a hostile machien gu in action. He immediately shot one of the enemy gunners, thus covering the retirement of the N.C.O. . He then crawled back under heavy fire and was wounded , but succeeded in killing another enemy gunner. It was not until he had been wounded three times that he finally withdrew. His personal example assisted in the retention of very difficult positions, and he was of the greatest assistance to his company commander !
ONE OF THE BEST DCM CITATIONS I'VE READ FOR WHILE.
