Clearly a Somme Battle Casualty who was lucky enough to be evacuated for treatment in England.
Worthy of much further research. Son of Charles and Mary Sargeant, of 4, Apsley St, Rusthall, Tunbridge Wells. born in London.
The 5th Bn were raised at WINDSOR, and this poor chap was clearly returned to base. Includes colour MIC & copy of Tunbridge Wells newspaper of Nov, 29th 1916 showing his death notice: " SARGEANT. To the dear memory of our beloved son, Private, Robert SARGEANT, Coldstream Guards, who entered into rest Sunday, 26th November 1916. "ONLY GOOD-NIGHT, BELOVED, NOT FAREWELL" From Mother and Father, Brothers and Sisters.
