[BIOGRAPHY] c,1868- Arthur Fred Pragnell was born in Winchester in about 1868 and had quite a remarkable career in the army. He has served in the Hampshire’s from about 1887 at age of 19 with service in India for which he received his IGS. Then at age 47 on 1st September 1915 he is seen re-enlisting “for the duration of the war” in the Royal Engineers (Pnr 118211) .....and only 16 days later on 17th September he was in France !! ...at some time after this he was transferred to the Labour Corps (Cpl 293125). For his WW1 service he’s entitled to a 1914-15 Trio. Amazingly, this uniformed studio photograph of him with his younger brother has survived. Almost certainly taken just after enlistment in 1915. An excellent medal in nice EF on an original cotton & silk ribbon with WW1 attestation paper and the medal roll for the IGS. £325
