A POSSIBLY UNIQUE & SUPERB UN-NAMED "SPECIMEN" WATERLOO MEDAL. ABOUT MINT STATE & UNIQUELY FITTED BY THE ROYAL MINT AT TIME OF PRODUCTION WITH AN M.G.S. MEDAL SUSPENSION.
A POSSIBLY UNIQUE & SUPERB 'UN-NAMED' "SPECIMEN" WATERLOO MEDAL. PRACTICALLY AS STRUCK & UNIQUELY FITTED BY THE ROYAL MINT AT TIME OF PRODUCTION WITH A MILITARY GENERAL SERVICE MEDAL SWIVEL SUSPENSION. [AN ASTONISHING MEDAL] On it's original ribbon. They say you live & learn and see something new every day....Well !!! Today was the day....Again !! We were recently told about the existence of a genuinely 'mint' and genuinely 'un-named' Specimen Waterloo Medal. We didn't think such a thing existed .....until today........
But here it is ! We think this medal was originally produced by The Royal Mint as a display specimen, or, as a special striking as a match to a Military General Service Medal for an important officer who had perhaps lost his original Waterloo medal. It is abundantly clear that the current pin & claw straight swivel bar suspension is totally 'as fitted' by the mint production badge makers and their pin & claw crimping machine and that it's not an example of a commonly re-suspendered normal Waterloo, which of course exist with an unlimited variety of different suspensions. This is just fabulous and just as the day it was made. Someone has clearly looked after this item since the early-mid 1800's as it's just about as good as you will ever see a Waterloo medal. A GENUINELY 'ONE ONLY' PIECE.(SOLD)
