An Exceptionally Good Looking
WATERLOO MEDAL
(Officially Impressed)
To:
RICHARD MIDDLETON, ROYAL ARTILLERY DRIVERS.

Served in Major N. Turner’s “A” Troop.

This excellent medal has clearly been much loved & well cared for by the original recipient at the start of its life, and much cherished since.

An Exceptionally Good Looking WATERLOO MEDAL
To: RICHARD MIDDLETON, ROYAL ARTILLERY DRIVERS.
Served in Major N. Turner’s “A” Troop. As is common with many Waterloo medals it’s had a perfectly acceptable & excellent private suspension modification which in this case is an outstandingly professional production. The normal steel edge clip has been faithfully replicated in silver with the iron ring replaced by a neat silver horizontal suspension bar. Clip and Suspension are connected via an inverted “hat shaped” aperture.

An Exceptionally Good Looking WATERLOO MEDAL
To: RICHARD MIDDLETON, ROYAL ARTILLERY DRIVERS.
Served in Major N. Turner’s “A” Troop. NOTE:
The original metal suspension fittings would tend to go rusty in the rain and were notorious at the time for making an ugly rusty mark on the red coats. As a result, a great many Waterloo men had private suspension adaptions produced which come in an innumerable variety of designs.

This conversion is a particularly nice looking example of the silversmiths’ craft.

One or two very minor non distracting edge bumps, but overall a very attractive and good looking medal in GVF or better condition.

A very high quality addition to any serious British medal collection.
