John Morris CADWALLADER was born on 27th March 1883 in Bishops Castle into a Shropshire farming family, the 6th of the eleven children to Morris & Emma CADWALLADER. Serving in the Boer War in the Transkei Division under Lt Col W.H.C. Taylor he patrolled his area on a beautiful grey horse. He lived in Potchefstroom where he married Marie in about 1923. She was also from Shropshire.
He retired from the S.A.C. in March of 1933 as a sergeant and returned to the United Kingdom where he resided in Lambeth, London.
He died there in the last quarter of 1948 aged 64.
Comes complete with an original and VERY RARE South African Constabulary hat badge and includes copy medal rolls, uniformed wedding photo, reference letter of thanks and congratulation by Taylor his C.O.
