[NOTES]
This is a notable pair which has taken several weeks to fully sort out.
On the Devon rolls there are two men called 'Chick'. Firstly there is our man 609 Cpl W.C. Chick of 1st Devon Rgt. Secondly there is a 5206 Pte W. Chick also of 1st Devon Rgt....both men served in 1st Devons and then both transferred into the S.A.C. We assume they were related.
On entry into the S.A.C. our man remained as 609 Cpl W.C. Chick....and the other man became E.2860 Trp W. Chick...who was not entitled to a KSA but who had the clasps South Africa 1901 & 1902 on his QSA.
A further complication & error arose when the two Chicks were yet again confused with one another when our man W.C.Chick's QSA was quite properly and officially fitted with a BELFAST clasp which the roll does not record.
However ....and having seen many similar 1st Devons QSA's & pairs it's almost certain that our W.C. Chick is indeed entitled to the BELFAST clasp which is quite correctly riveted & fitted to this medal.
Also entitled to a two clasp Indian General Service Medal.
An excellent Devon's Ladysmith Defender pair. With copy rolls and 1911 Census.
