[BIOGRAPHY]
ROBERT STRACHAN was born in April 1821 & joined the army on
13th April 1837 aged just 16. His initial unit of service was 72nd (Duke of Albany’s Own Highlanders) with which he served for 4 years and 18 days until 30th April 1837.
On 1st May 1842 he transferred to 42nd Foot (Royal Highlanders) “The Black Watch”. He is seen serving 28 days in prison 1st February 1850 to 28th February 1850 for an unknown offence.
His service sheet gives an end date to his service of 27th September 1858 and he was finally discharged at his own request
on 24th May 1859 at his own request at age 39 and after 21 years service.
This is a superbly original and undisturbed pair with part original ribbon and full discharge papers with confirming medal rolls.
