[DESCRIPTION]
This combination of clasps is extremely rare in that in the fist place very very few medals are seen with both Mafeking & Kimberley clasps, but when also carrying the Paardeberg clasp the medal becomes a serious rarity.

[THE EMERGENCY BREAD CONVOY]
The Paardeberg clasp was only issued to 174 recipients of which just 75 were members of Kimberley Light Horse. These men were charged with the task going to Paardeberg, staying overnight and retuning next day while guarding the emergency bread delivery wagon train which carried bread supplies baked by the De Beers company.

Includes an excellent letter signed by Earl Kimberley himself who was Secretary of State for the Colonies in 1874 during the major period of diamond discovery in South Africa, and who gave his name to the town of Kimberley. The letter is an admission pass permission to the Public Gallery in The House of Lords which was apparently granted to the then young Frank Nixon on Monday 18th May 1874.

Both Medals are Practically Mint on Original Ribbons with the Star retaining its original silver top mount and pin.
