[BIOGRAPHY]
Robinson Suggitt was born about 1880 and was from Middlesbrough. He first joined the army as a regular career soldier some time prior to the Boer War (circa 1898) at about age 18 as Private, 5232. R. SUGGITT 2nd West York’s Regt.

He then served in several actions in South Africa including the Relief of Ladysmith, and earned a Five Clasp QSA & a KSA.

After his initial engagement of 12 years, he is then seen signing on again on 24th July 1910 with his retained service number 5232.

He again saw action in the Great War in France after an arrival on 19th September 1914, with the 1st Battalion. He then sustained a gun shot wound to the head at The Battle of Neuve Chapelle, in March of 1915 which led to his discharge on 19th March and the issue of SWB No. 171042.
