[BIOGRAPHY]
Edward Holt was a resident of Royal Leamington Spa at the start of WW1. His address was "Oaklands" Kenilworth Road, Leamington. He initially enlisted as 2/Lt in the Royal Warwickshire Regt and then transferred to the Gloucester Regt with a final move to the Ox & Bucks L.I. with whom he won his M.C. He entered France in June 1915. After WW1 he became the Oxfordshire County Army Welfare Officer & received the O.B.E. (Civil) L.G. 24th June 1946.
[CITATION] L.G. 26th November 1917 (& 6th APRIL 1918)
"For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He commanded the two leading companies of his battalion with great skill and courage in the attack, and though wounded, remained in the line until the first objectives were consolidated, and then returned and made a detailed report on the situation" A very attractive gallantry group to a much sought after regiment.
