    A very attractive "Old Comtemptibles" Military Medal gallantry group to a very early entrant to the WW1 hostilities. Charles W Hoy with 40th Brigade entered France on 19th August 1914 just 14 days after the declaration of war and took part in some of the earliest opening shots of WW1which took place on and around 22nd August 1914.

    Charles Hoy lived at 90 VARCOE ROAD, S. BERMONDSEY, LONDON. S.E. and applied for his 1914 Star and Clasp from that address.
