A lovely Military Cross from a most sought after area and unit. This brave soldier was highly thought of and was commissoned from the ranks. Joined THE ACCRINGTON PALS as a Private on 25th September 1914 as part of Kitchener's New Army and rose quickly to the rank of Major all during 1914-1918.
Biography
Thomas Crompton Parsons was born 5th March 1894 at Habergham Eaves , son of Charles and Jane Elizabeth Parsons. Enlisted 25th September 1914 as Private 16053 Pte T C Parsons, 11th Bn East Lancs Regt (Accrington Pals) : Appointed 2/Lt 2/5th Bn East Lancs Regt 25th /27th March1915. Awarded Military Cross: attd, 47th Machine Gun Corps; Demobilised with rank of captain 22nd March 1919. Lived at 23 Ormerod Road Burnley.
MC and Pair mounted on original ribbonds as worn, loose Defence Medal.
