Military Medal
&
1914-15 Trio.
' 9th APRIL 1917 '
To:
418654. Pte. D. NEAFSEY. 42/CANADIAN INFANTRY.
A wonderful award reflecting sheer blind courage.
On the day Private Neafsey won his medal he was acting to repair telegraphic lines which had been cut in many places by a massive German bombardment. He was out in no-man's-land doing repairs single handedly "for many hours" under the withering enemy shell fire.
Seldom becoming available, this is a Canadian classic bound for the finest collection of gallantry medals. Medals have been professionally cleaned and laquered for complete protection. Pad Mounted and fitted on original WW1 ribbons
We've only seen three Vimy Ridge awards for sale in the last 10 years !
Group comes with extensive copy service papers and medals records from the Canadian Archives
(Copies of his original muster papers are included)
Donald Neafsey died peacefully in a Canadian ex-Veterans Military Hospital in 1977
