AN UNUSUAL COMBINATIONEGYPT MEDAL (TEL-EL-KEBIR) 1882 LONG SERVICE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL (VR)MERRITORIOUS SERVICE MEDAL (George V) & KHEDIVE'S STAR 1882. To:: 5353. DVR-SGT-BTY SGT MJR. A. ROZIER. "C"/ 3 Bd. R.A. Alfred ROZIER was born in 1961 and was a labourer from Ipswich. He joined up on 7th February 1880 at age 19. Served in Egypt & India. He served with much good conduct & distinction right through the later part of the reign of Queen Victoria. Originally discharged age 46 on 7th May 1907 at Liverpool and living at 68 Leinster Rd, Old Swan, he re-enlisted into the West Yorkshire Regt for home service in the Great War on 9th September 1914. He had five children all born between 1899 and 1909 in Liverpool. On joining the West Yorks Regt he moved to 26 Elmgate Street, Fishergate, York. Finally discharged to the Army Reserve on 7th February 1920 exactly 40 years to the day of his original enlistment. Alfred died suddenly of a heart attack on Sunday April 18th 1937, Age 76 years. Included is his obituary card. Also included many sheet of service history from start to finish of his career in the Royal Artillery. As is common with these issues, the Egypt medal has some contact loss to the unit details due early contact with the KHEDIVE'S Star's Points.However, the numbering rank and naming is 100%. Reads: 5353. DRIV.A.ROZIER. C/ 3 ( BDE .RA ). The LSGC is Officially Engraved in Sans Serif Capitals. The MSM is officially impressed. The KHEDIVE'S Star is Regimentally Engraved: "5353 Dr A. ROZIER.
