A VERY SCARCE HIGH RANKING OFFICER's QSA (Cape Colony - SA 02 ) & GREAT WAR PAIR (with M.I.D. for Mesopotamia 1917)To: Lt. / Lt. Colonel. W.F. Panton - Warwickshire Regt,(Late Manchester & Leicester Regiments. Lt Colonel Panton originally entered the WW1 theatre in India on 9th November 1914. ( M.I.C. confirms) .
His English residence at that time was at "The Manor House"Moreton, Dorchester and is seen claiming his WW1 medals at that address on 30th May 1920. William Forbes Panton, later of 42 Chancellor House, Tunbridge Wells, died at the Lonsdale Nursing Home, Tunbridge Wells in 1958 leaving a then astonishing estate of £36,947. 15s 6d ....(worth well over a £1 million now ) A really nice high ranking group with original miniatures and various copy research papers.
