Mainly to men of the Royal Warwick Regt & the RFC with just a handful to odd men attached from other units....they are ultra scarce. We've only had two in groups over the last 40 years ...and this is one of them!!) [BIOGRAPHY]
William James was born in Thornbury, Bristol in 1871 and worked as a labourer prior to his enlistment at Bristol into the Gloucester Regt on 3rd October 1893. He had previously served in 1st Volunteer Bn Gloster Regt.
He served in Malta, Egypt & India and at The Defence of Ladysmith during the Boar War where he survived an attack of enteric fever (often fatal) . He was initially discharged at Warwick on 2nd October 1905 after his first 12 year engagement. He later served in the Great War and is seen signing on again , this time for the Royal Warwickshire Regt on 19th April 1915 with whom he arrived in Egypt on 20th August 1915 and onward to the Sudan with the E.E.F. on 4th November 1916.
Finally discharged to the reserve on 18th April 1919, after the Great War he was resident at 3 High Street, Dowlais Top, Dowlais, where he is pictured leaning on the doorway of his home.

An excellent & very rare combination of medals which are all in uncleaned original EF condition.
