38701. Sgt J.H. NOSWORTHY. R.A.M.C. [BIOGRAPHY]
JOSEPH HENRY NOSWORTHY was born in 1869 in Bideford, Barnstable, Devon. With three years previous overseas service with the Royal Canadian Dragoons he had clearly returned to England, worked as a clerk and subsequently joined the British Army at Bristol on 27th February 1895. He served at home for almost four years until leaving for South Africa on 12th December 1899 where he served for eleven months until 13th November 1900. Another year in the UK was followed by another fourteen months in South Africa until 16th February 1903.
Eight clasp medals are exceedingly scarce and highly sought after, particularly in combination with Great War medals. All the medals are all 100% original and uncleaned with an excellent and long time developed natural patina & colour. Copies of the Boer War attestation papers etc, and an excellent cabinet card photograph of the recipient & his very rare Canadian Dragoons hat badge are also included.
A lovely and very unusual group.
