[BIOGRAPHY]
Arthur Samuel Scott was born in 1892, and appearing to be an adopted child he is recorded as the Son of Alfred & Susannah Rudd, of Tythe Cottages, Briston, Melton Constable, Norfolk.
To France 16th August 1914.
His was one of the first cavalry units to arrive in France.
[23rd JULY 1915]
In late July 1915 the men of 6th were digging new trenches at La Clytte which is 6 miles west of Ypres. It is know from the war diary that the Germans were actively shelling the digging parties. The 6th Dragoons diary reports that two men were killed by shelling on 23rd July, and as there were no casualties actually reported on the 24th it's clear that it was Arthur Scott & his comrade, 4331. Pte A. Stead who were the dead men. Indeed, althougt the CWG records say Scott was killed on 24th they were both recorded in the war diary as being killed on the 23rd and are both buried together at La Clytte Military Cemetery, Belgium
.His Grave Epitaph Reads: "Gone But Not Forgotten" An important & rare early cavalry casualty group.
