ROYAL ARTILLERY.
A most remarkable group to a Nottingham man who fought two wars from beginning to end !
Harold Brown was born in late 1890 and started school in Nottingham in 1895 aged 5.
He was clearly a good steady lad as he qualified for Bronze, Silver and Gold School Board attendance and punctuality medals in 1897, 1898, and 1899 aged 7, 8 and 9.
He was clearly an army reservist and the outbreak of war in 1914 saw him aged 24 in the army with the ASC and in France at the early date of 25th August 1914.
His MIC confirms a move to The Northumberland Fusiliers at some time during hostilities.
He was invalided out in February 1918 ( silver war badge no. 393938 ) aged 28 .
At the start of World War Two he is again ( by Easter 1940 ) aged 49 and at his own request is back under arms as a Bombardier in the Royal Artillery serving in France & Germany with 301st Battery HA.A. Royal Field Artillery. Small prayer book ( Gospel of St John dated Easter 1940) and his original medal issue list to '910457' shows his four WW2 medals. He continued in the Territorial Army until 1947 when he is seen being discharged age 56.
He received his TFEM on 17th July 1947 aged 59.( issue letter included)
A HIGHLY UNUSUAL LONG SERVING SOLDIER's MEDALS
( All his medals are totally mint, unworn and are on original ribbons )
