An early 1914 Star & Bar Trio, Casualty. To:7119. Pte A.E. WORKMAN,1st GLOUCESTER Regt .DIED OF WOUNDS 4th December 1914.1st Division, and was among the first British troops to disembark in Le Havre, on 13th August. 1st Battalion Gloucester Regiment saw action in the very early battles of the war – Mons and the retreat, the Marne, the Aisne, First Ypres and Givenchy. Alfred was probably among the first casualties of the war and shipped back to the UK for treatment. Sadly he didn't survive his injuries and is buried with eternal honour in Minchinhampton Churchyard, near Stroud in Gloucestershire. (With Uniformed photo) "MINT" ON ORIGINAL RIBBONS. (SOLD)
