A FINE "FIRST DAY, BATTLE OF AUBERS RIDGE"(9th MAY 1915) 1914-15 CASUALTY TRIO.To:6345. Pte L.L.INGHAM 3rd EAST SURREY REGT.(DIED OF WOUNDS RECEIVED ON 9th MAY 1915) With MIC, both issue letters, box for pair, & Mary Brass Box with a copy of his unique 'posthumous' issue Mary brass box advice letter & a rare "1915 Christmas card" & Royal postcard. Len INGHAM arrived in France on 6th March 1915 as a reinforcement for the 3rd East Surry Regiment to make up for the large losses that the unit has sustained in the previous few months. Tragically he was to serve for only two months before being killed on the First Day of the Battle of Aubers Ridge. It is thought that Leonard was shot as soon as he left the trench and was dragged back in and died some short time later.Len is remembered in BAILLUEL COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION, NORD.LEST WE FORGET This is a very nice grouping with it's Mary Brass Box ....Medals in practically "Mint" state with an EF Mary Brass Box.£545 with part exchanges welcome.
