Len INGHAM arrived in France on 6th March 1915 as a reinforcement for the 3rd East Surry Regiment to make up for the large losses that the unit has sustained in the previous few months. Tragically he was to serve for only two months before being killed on the First Day of the Battle of Aubers Ridge. It is thought that Leonard was shot as soon as he left the trench and was dragged back in and died some short time later.

Len is remembered in BAILLUEL COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION, NORD.
