Captain Guy Threlkeld Edwards. 24th Bn (2nd Sportsman) Royal Fusiliers.KILLED IN ACTION 31st JULY 1916[BIOGRAPHY]
Guy Threlkeld Edwards was born in 1891 the son of the late Dacre George Edwards and Laura Emily Edwards of 22 Crediton Hill, Hampstead, London. He was married to Olive Edwards of Wayside, Yarmouth, Isle of Wight. Guy was educated at Marlborough College, Wiltshire and later at Kings College, Cambridge. After the war his widow Olive is seen living in Southport Lancashire at the home of an important Doctor (Dr Edward Cronin-Lowe) of 31 Church Street, Southport who was famous for early cancer research & diagnostics. The address is still extant and lies just across the road from Southport technical college and is just off the town centre.
It is assumed that Olive Edwards was perhaps related to Dr Cronin-Lowe as after inheriting the sum of £21,745 10s 2d (in 1917) from the estate of her late husband it's clear that she didn't really have to work. Further research will no doubt uncover interesting details.
This excellent officers casualty trio is in Gem Mint State" with a mirror prooflike 'officer reverse' on the 1914-15 star. With a good uniformed photo taken from The Sphere 'roll of honour'.With original mint ribbons & the three boxes of issue.
