13552 Cpl Thomas Stobie was born in Restalrig, Midlothian and enlisted in Edinburgh. The first 'Old Contemptible' men of 1st Bn originally entered France on 14th August 1914, but after sustaining many casualties during the first year of the war they were later reinforced by new men. Thomas Scobie was one of these and he entered France on 4th August 1915.
He was the son of Thomas & Jessie Brown Stobie, of Armadale, West Lothian. Scotland .

During "1st Phase Spring Offensive", (German Operation Michael)
An excellent award to a brave Scot who served with a crack Scots unit.
