KILLED IN ACTION 23rd APRIL 1915.Hugh was the Son of Barbara McDonald Williamson, of 6, Craigton Rd, Govan, Glasgow, and the late Robert Williamson. As Hugh’s service number is prefixed by an “S” it denotes that he volunteered for war service and had not been a regular soldier. He entered France on 10th March and was sadly lost only six weeks later on 23rd April.

KILLED IN ACTION 23rd APRIL 1915. Like many many thousands of his comrades, Hugh’s body was lost without trace. He has no known grave and is Commemorated with Eternal Honour on The Menin Gate,Ypres, Belgium.

KILLED IN ACTION 23rd APRIL 1915. A Remarkably complete and ever rarer group. Hugh was a young Goven lad from Glasgow. His group has survived totally intact and is in mint state with its plaque, commemorative scroll, glengarry & collar dog badges with a full length uniformed studio photograph of him. The scroll, which is crisp and clean, has been very slightly trimmed by about 1/2” at top & bottom having once been framed.
