Thomas Fisher was born in 1879 and joined the army in August 1914. After approximately 6 months training he entered France on 11th March 1915. His unit was heavily engaged in the fighting at 2nd Battle of Ypres and Thomas was Killed in Action just 53 days after his arrival on 3rd May 1915 aged 36.

It is worth noting that Thomas received just 53/- shillings
(£2 13/- 0d) for his service in France.


As with so many thousands of his fellows, his body was lost without trace on the battlefield and he has no known grave.

His Medal index card is notated: “Missing Pres Dead 3/5/15”

He was the Son of the late Mr Thomas Fisher Snr & Mrs Fanny Fisher. He was the Husband of Margaret Pullen (formerly Fisher) of 14 Belgrave Road, Mitcham, Surrey.
