KILLED IN ACTION, 3rd July 1916.Aged 34.
A married man from St. Werburgh’s Bristol.
[BIOGRAPHY] 1882-1916. (34) Archie’ Allen was born in 1882 in St. Gabriel’s in Bristol, in which city he later enlisted for service in the Royal Warwickshire Regt. He was the husband of Mrs Caroline Amelia Allen of 21 Lancaster Row, Mina Road, St Werburgh’s, Bristol.
He was killed-in-action on the 3rd Day of the Battle of the Somme, Monday, 3rd July 1916. As with so many tens of thousands of the brave men who were killed on the Somme, he was lost without trace and has no known grave.
He is commemorated with eternal honour on the Theipval Memorial to the missing, Somme, France.

The Medals are nice VF+ and long ago cleaned and were probably proudly worn by his widow on 11th November Remembrance Days and are now nicely toned. As is normal with our casualty medals we have included a set of “mint & original” cotton & silk WW1 ribbons in respect and as an act of acknowledgment that Archie Allen never saw his medals and certainly never wore them.
