On 8 June 1982, the Welsh Guards were boarded into RFA Sir Galahad at Port Pleasant near Fitzroy, just off the Falkland Islands.
The ship, which was carrying thousands of gallons of diesel fuel, petrol and ammunition which included many phosphorous bombs was attacked and bombed by Argentine Airforce Skyhawk fighters during the Bluff Cove Air Attacks.
From his platoon of 30 men, 22 were killed.
During the attack and the fire The Welsh Guards lost a total of 48 men killed and 97 wounded aboard the Sir Galahad.
It was in this ship that the incredibly brave Welsh Guards soldier Pte Simon Weston CBE was so terribly burned.
A Rare & Highly Emotive Group of medals to a man who was present during one of the most infamous incidents in the Falklands War. Awards to the Welsh Guardsmen who were involved in the Sir Galahad tragedy are greatly sought after.
