Served Paardeberg & Driefontein and in China during the Boxer Rebellion & Received 12 months hard labour in jail at Wormwood Scrubs for blackmail.)

St Clair was One of only 35 recipients of this combination.

[IMPRISONED FOR BLACKMAIL]
After leaving the army St Clair began employment as a fitter's mate but soon found himself in very serious trouble with the civil authorities. He pleaded guilty to having "blackmailed with menace" one Harry Josselson, over the contents of three letters, he having threatened and caused Josselson to hand over £25, £5 and a further £5. St Clair was arrested and placed in custody on 12th May 1917 and sentenced by Mr Justice Shankey on 12th June 1917 to Nine Months Hard Labour at HMP WORMWOOD SCRUBS.

With a very interesting and fully researched service history.
